Mid-Century Modern lamps feature sleek, clean lines, organic curves and geometric forms in a much more minimal style than their more traditional predecessors. The post war Mid-Century Modern style (mid-1930's to mid-1960's) that grew from the German Bauhas movement introduced the exploration of combining contrasting materials such as metal and glass or timber and plastic. This period developed a timeless style that focused more on simplicity and functionality, resulting in clean lined desk lamps and classic ceramic bases and shades. Mid-Century Modern lamps are still both practical and decorative, adding a spark of colour to a corner of a room as well as an ambient low level localised light. Mid-Century Modern lamps are almost always designed for use with a lamp shade, which the design size of will largely be dictated by the lamp base. Our range of Mid-Century Modern lamps includes; ceramic styles, bold solid colour, sculptural, organic and minimal styles.
