Joy is currently studying for her Bachelor of Applied Science majoring in interior architecture and is expecting to graduate early in 2022.
After growing up on a farm near Northampton Joy moved to Perth after high school. She initially worked various retail jobs, completed a Certificate 4 in beauty therapy, and discovered her love of lighting design at Beacon Lighting before commencing university in 2017. During her studies she has completed internships at Hassell Architects in Perth, and in Singapore as part of her New Colombo Plan Scholarship.
Outside her professional life Joy has a love of art, and in particular public art installations. She is one of a group of artists who have created art installations at Crown Casino, and Claremont Quarter. And she is part of the mural painting group who created the Collie Mural Trail.
Joy’s love of lighting design is steeped in her belief in the transformative power of creativity. For her, lighting design is both a technical and creative pursuit.
